Woodruff the law dog is helping you understand laws, because not knowing the law can bite you in the butt!
Kids often fluctuate between liking and disliking school for various reasons. Maybe you don’t care for rules or for math or maybe you are eager to see your best friend, but not so eager to see your strict teacher. Whether you like school or not, you probably don’t think about what it would be like to be hurt at school. If you are hurt at school, what should you do?
What to Do
One personal injury lawyer in San Diego suggests that kids should call their parents right away after being injured at school. They should also see a doctor right away. If you were hurt at your school, the school could be in trouble for not making sure you were safe. Not every accident or injury that happens at school is the school’s fault, but some may be and your parents will probably know if it is or not.
You should make sure to see a doctor right away after your accident at school to ensure that you get fixed up. Make sure that you tell your parents about your injury.
After Getting Help from a Doctor
After you tell your parents about your accident at school, make sure your parents write down details and collect evidence. If there were people who saw your accident, your parents should write down their names and statements about what they saw. That way, the witnesses’ statements can act as evidence if the school did do something wrong.
You may feel bad about getting the school into trouble, but they need to know what they did was wrong. If they caused you to be injured, they need to know what they did, too, so that other kids like you also don’t get hurt.
In addition, your parents can get money to help pay for your injury and medical bills. Your medical treatment costs money, and it’s only fair that the person who caused your injuries should have to pay for them. If the school caused your injuries, they should pay for it.

Relationships can be hard, and sometimes parents can’t get along. When they decide that the family can’t work, they may decide to separate or get a divorce. Divorce is tough on kids. You probably want your parents to figure out how to get along because you want your family to stay together forever.
Unfortunately, no matter how much you want the family to be together, your parents may still decide to get a divorce. It’s very important for you to know that parents don’t get divorced because of their kids. They get divorced because of the relationship between them. Because they can’t learn to get along. Kids are never responsible for their parents’ inability to get along.
Why Do Some Parents Get Along and Some Don’t?
Relationships can be difficult for some people. All people are different. They have different personalities, different needs, and different interests. Sometimes, personalities clash. Sometimes, people change and they grow apart. Some people are able to stay together because their personalities go together well.
Some parents are able to work on their marriage. They go to counseling or find other ways to get along. All parents are different, and there are many reasons why some parents stay together but others break apart. There’s nothing you can do to fix your parents’ marriage, and it’s not your responsibility to try to fix it.
You need to understand that your parents will always be your parents. Just because your parents get a divorce doesn’t mean you no longer have two parents. They will still love you. They just won’t be living together. Your relationships with your parents may change, and you may have to spend time with each parent separately, but they are still your parents.
Divorce is a legal matter, and you may get caught in the middle of a custody battle. A “custody battle” is when your parents are fighting over who gets more time with you. This is no fun for you because you love both of your parents and want to spend time with both of them. Try to remain calm and wait it out. This situation will get resolved in time.

Woodruff the law dog is helping you understand laws, because not knowing the law can bite you in the butt.
Hi there, kids! Woodruff the law dog is back today with some information about dog bites. Yes, I know, I’m a dog. I don’t bite, but some dogs DO bite, so you need to know what to do if that happens to you.
There you were, just playing basketball in the cul-de-sac with some friends, when a big dog comes over and charges at you. You weren’t bothering the dog or scaring it or anything, but it still came over and chased you and your friends before deciding to taste your leg.
Luckily, your buddies were able to scare the dog away, and someone followed the dog to the house where it lives. Although you are going to be okay, the dog really hurt you. What do you do?
Get Medical Help and Tell Your Parents
Send your friends to get help. They should run and tell an adult what happened right away. The adult can then come and get you and take you to the doctor or to the hospital. If no adults can be found, you should call 911. A dog bite can be serious. You could have tissue damage, nerve damage, or you could even develop a serious infection or disease after being bitten by a dog.
Some dogs have rabies, which is a serious disease. If you are unsure if the dog has this disease, you may have to get a rabies shot to protect you from getting this disease. However, many doctors will want to monitor you just to be on the safe side.
What Your Parents Can Do
After you’ve been treated by a medical professional, your parents can look into getting a lawyer. Your parents can click here for a personal injury lawyer or they can look into finding one themselves. Personal injury lawyers can assist in filing a personal injury claim against the owner of the dog that bit you.
When a pet owner does not control their pet and you are injured, they could get into trouble. Dog owners are supposed to keep their dogs fenced or on a leash. If a dog escapes from their house and hurts someone, it’s the dog’s owner who is to blame.
A personal injury claim could allow you and your parents to receive money to pay for your dog bite injuries, your medical treatment costs, and to pay for your pain and suffering. You have probably missed school and you may even have a gnarly scar. You should receive money for how the dog bite has caused you to suffer.

Hi, kiddos! Woodruff the law dog is back. Today I am going to be talking to you about how expensive accidents can be. Did you know that it costs a lot of money to get medical treatment? If you get hurt on the playground at school, your parents will likely have to take you to the hospital. Going to the hospital can cost a lot of money.
The doctor will charge for the appointment, for the medicine they give you, and for any treatment they give you. For example, if you break your arm in an accident, the doctor will charge your parents money to fix your arm. Fixing your arm isn’t free! The cast costs money, as do the X-rays of your arm.
Why Do Parents Have to Pay Medical Bills After an Accident?
Doctors don’t work for free. That means that someone has to pay the doctor who is taking care of you. Sometimes, medical insurance will pay for some of the treatment. But, your parents will pay money for your treatment also. If your accident was not caused by you or by your parents, there might be a way to receive money to pay the medical costs.
Filing a Claim or Lawsuit for Your Accident
When someone caused your accident and injuries, that person might be required to pay for your medical bills. You could help your parents pay for these bills by telling them about your accident. Give them details as to what you think caused your accident. If your injuries were caused by someone else, that person might be required to pay your medical bills.
Your parents could try filing a personal injury claim or lawsuit against the person responsible. This is when your parents could receive money to pay for your medical bills because the court says so. The court might decide that you and your parents are owed money because you didn’t cause the accident that harmed you.

Woodruff the law dog is helping you understand laws because not knowing the law can bite you in the butt.
Hi there, kids! I’m Woodruff the law dog! Today I am going to help you understand what to do if you are hurt in an accident. There are laws about what you can do when you’ve been hurt by someone else because that person was not being careful. They are called personal injury laws.
For example, if you get hurt at the playground at school, sometimes that accident is someone else’s fault. Let’s say that the swing set you love to swing on was broken, and you fell off the swing because of that.
What should you do when you’ve been hurt? First, you should tell a teacher or adult right away! That person should take you to the hospital or call your parents. You’ll want to see a doctor so they can fix you or let you know that you’re okay. If you have been hurt, the person who caused you to be hurt might have to pay for what they’ve done.
When You’ve Been Hurt, Your Parents Can Help You Get Justice
Woodruff the law dog knows a San Antonio personal injury attorney, who is a lawyer that helps people who’ve been hurt in an accident. The attorney says that children could be injured anywhere, including at school, during sporting events, or even on field trips.
Whatever situation caused you to be harmed, your parents could help you to punish the person who caused your injury.
For example, if you are injured on a swing set at school, the school might be punished for not making sure that the swing set was safe for you to use. When people do something wrong, they should be punished for what they’d done, especially when they hurt other people.
If you hurt someone at school, you would get punished, right? You might get detention or even get suspended from school. Adults can also get into trouble when they are careless and cause people to be harmed.
Why it’s Important to Tell Your Parents About Your Injury Right Away
If you’ve been hurt in an accident, the most important thing to do is to tell your parents right away.
- First, so they can get you medical help.
- Second, because they need to look into your accident to see if someone was to blame for it. Your parents can work to make sure that the person will be punished. Your parents can also work to make sure other people don’t get hurt like you did.
It’s also important to know that you should not try to punish that person yourself; that won’t fix anything and will likely only get you into trouble, too.
